you are what you eat.

"you are what you eat."

This statement could not be any truer.

I have loved baking and cooking since I was a young girl. I think my affinity towards art and science has molded me into the weirdo that I am. I love trying new things and putting wacky food combinations together. I have failed miserably in the kitchen, and sometimes I have come up with pretty baller food. This blog will be a testament to my weird concoctions of awesome.

I have been ailing from many different (and random) things, and for some reason or another I decided to forego dairy and gluten. Dairy was a no-brainer for me, because I am a self-professed lactard. Gluten has been the struggle. It seems like gluten is in everything, and it initially made me grumpy to relinquish the deliciousness that is gluten (umm Oreos, hello?). Although I stay fairly vigilant and avoid most gluten products, I do tend to lapse (there was a homemade chocolate chip cookie incident which I do not want to talk about.) Beer is another touchy subject.

With that said...

Since being dairy free and (almost) gluten free I can definitely say that I do feel better, and look better. I have more energy, stamina, my mind isn't as cloudy, and I am not exhausted all the time. I have also noticed improvements with my body (I'm deflating) and my skin is clearing up (for the most part..).

I think the avoidance of these two things has made me more aware of what I am feeding my body. I am more of an active eater and have gained more knowledge of my body (as weird as that sounds). I am only as good as the food going into my body.

Eat to live, and live to eat.
